Changes the case of letters that have upper and lower case, such as Latin, Greek and Cyrillic. Hangul, Chinese characters and kana are not affected.
Modes
- UPPERCASE: converts every letter to uppercase.
- lowercase: converts every letter to lowercase. Useful for normalizing email addresses before comparing them.
- Sentence case: lowercases everything, then capitalizes only the first letter of the text, of each line, and after a period, question mark or exclamation mark. Great for fixing sentences typed with Caps Lock on by accident.
- Capitalize Each Word: capitalizes the first letter after a space, hyphen or parenthesis. Use it for titles or lists of names.
Limitations
This is a basic conversion. Capitals in the middle of a word, as in iPhone or McDonald, and acronyms (NASA) are lowercased. Programming notations such as camelCase or snake_case are not provided.
If your goal is to remove duplicates that differ only in case, turning on 'Ignore case' in Remove duplicate lines without converting keeps the original spelling.
